JCompress Joomla compression plugin RC1 released
In past few weeks we have been working on free Joomla 3.x/2.5.x compression plugin JCompress. The idea behind the plugin is simple. Get all CSS and JS files as well as inline ones, compress them and server the page with compressed files.
As always with such complex operations plenty of options come in mind but we opted for simple ones;
JCompress options
- Compress CSS/JS files and inlines
- Minify CSS/JS files and inlines
- Compress HTML
- Gzip CSS/JS
- Process cache creation in background
- Exclude specific CSS/JS files from compression
- Exclude compression on specific pages
- Exclude compression on specific components
- Move order of excluded files
- Ajax scan pages for faster cache creation
- Ajax clear cache , all/CSS/JS
As you can see we tried to think about most options that you would need from a compression engine. JCompress is currently in RC1 and we would like you to take some time and test it on your server if possible. This will help us speed up the stable release.
Here is Jcompress test site and from my end it looks blazing fast. Sure there are few more things that need to be adjusted but this is a great example to show you what we are after.
