Import or migrate articles only?

Hi,

I'm trying to move about/import about 200 articles to a different template. I imported the mysqyl but that's not working for me. I mean I want the layout to remain the same, but just the articles to change. Is there any way (i.e., extension?) to move just the article and leave the content as it is in the demo?

Thanks.. Dee

You are changing the template or moving the articles to a new web?
If you are changing the template you only have to go to template manager and select what template you want.

If you are trying to change the template remember that often the templates do not have the same positions in the modules and components and maybe this it is the problem that you have.

If you are trying to move your site to another domain just export and import the database, upload the files to the new domain and edit config.php

Somehow it seemed easier to just import all of the articles rather than try to tweak the site. I did try the template at first.

But something else happened that was strange. When I imported mysql into the site, it automatically knocked out the existing extensions and was replaced by those extensions already in the database?

The new demo extensions aren't showing up. When I installed the extensions on the demo, it said they were already on the template, but it wasn't showing in the modules or the plugins! Maybe there's something written in the home directory that says they are there?
