Upgrading to 2.5

I have been waiting for you to upgrade the template for University that we used for this site. One of our other templates that we used for Go To Telecom has been updated - YouBizz.

A couple of questions...
1. Are you going to update University for 2.5? When I asked 6 months ago, you said it was on the calendar but I'm wondering if you've changed your mind and intend to abandon it. If so, any ideas about which template would be easiest to migrate to? It looked like YouEdition might work.
2. If I want to upgrade Go To Telecom to 2.5 and then use the most recent version of YouBizz, will it "blow up"? Of course, I'll make a backup first!

Thanks for your help!

Gala

Hello ggorman.

We stopped a little bit with the conversions because we are working on new version of Youjoomla, that will be soon out. After that we are going to work on the conversions and i am sure we will do all of them.

You can see our youversity its also university template, i am not sure what are you looking for:

Youversity - Joomla education template for schools and universities

2.5 version is totally different so my suggestion is to backup first and after that do the clean install of the demo and just add all your stuff again slowly, much better and cleaner.

Thank you.

Thanks for responding.

So, if I pick a new template (YouEdition might work since Youversity is nothing like the old one), could I move all the data over with SP Upgrade? I've read that the modules get deleted. I'm wondering how much of a mess this is going to be.

SPUpgrade does a very good job with the migration. The only issue I had with it is the menus can get messed up. Best thing I found to solve this is to have no menus on the new site and rename the home menu to something different. When you update the site replace the default 2.5 menu with your old one and delete the existing one. NOTE to make sure to delete the menu from the trash as well. Other than that I have had no issues using SPUpgrade.

DO NOT use JUpgrade!!! It is a nightmare waiting to happen!!!!
