A Simple Grid Template with Video player

Greetings

I'm working on a site for a Video producer and of course want to showcase their videos. I've worked with the Simple Grid template several times and currently have a modified version at Affox seit 1990 that I am working on.

I'm using YJ Movie Studio but I'm not happy with it :o. My wish is for a slider effect like with the YouScene news slider. It would also be important, that the preview image changes with each slide and that the list of available videos could be longer than the height of the preview image. Oh and one other wish: no Flash please. There are too many iPads and iPhones out there.

Having said my wishes, I of couse have been trying to think of a way to get the existing extensions to produce the effect I'm after. One possability (that I admit I didn't try yet) might be to use the YouScene Slider and for each "News Item" set up an instance of YJ Movie Studio. Could that work? Or will I run into a limitation of how many copys of YJMS can be made? (There is still the Flash problem though.)

Of course, the other possability is that I didn't see an extension that would be even more appropriate. I'm definatly open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Your wish is of course duly noted.

Hope you don't mind me not having tried this but how about grabbing a copy of MiaFLV and with loadposition place it in an article which in turn will be displayed in one of our sliders and/or newsflashes. Don't know if it works, but this would be my first bet.

Well...I've been trying. I tried the idea with bo:videoJS to try and avoid the flash player. It didn't work. The NewsSlider never loaded - wheel spinning.
It would be a super cool idea if someone (who is a programer instead of a pleeb like me) could get it to work.
Cheers,
Larry

Still waiting on HTML5

It's been a while since I wrote the above post. Of course, I had to find a solution for my client. But the issue is still there. My subscription to YouJoomla is coming up for renewal and I'm thinking about it. If I knew you were moving in th direction of HTML5 solutions it would make my decision easier.

BTW, I've been working with YJ Templates for almost a year now and I have no regrets! Thanks for the work you are doing.

Without a definite timeframe, sure html 5 solutions will be incorporated in due course. But if it exactly fits your above requirements i can't possibly promise.

Maybe some multitabs with some 3rd party extensions does it for you? And yes, YouJoomla does some great stuff:), thank you very much for that, but if one of our extensions doesn't exactly cut it requirement wise there is off course nothing wrong with having a go at some also great extensions at Home - Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Just stumbled on to this, nice balanced view and some cool new google ap: Gavick Magazine - Google converts Flash SWF files to HTML 5

To summarize all your wishes, pro's and con's, simple is always best:)
