Joomla! 3.0 Templates and Extensions Updates

If we’ve learned anything from converting Joomla 1.5 to 1.6, 1.7 and 2.5, it’s that it’s not a very good idea to rush these things out. Bugs will always come up, not because of bad coding

, but because of the sheer volume of changes that the Joomla development team implements every time. Whether it’s bug-fixes or changes in default classes, methods or vars, it’s super-easy to lose track of what goes where.

In the interest of making sure our customers remain stable (and happy), we’re advising all of you to stick with Joomla 2.5 (Long Term Support) until the next LTS version (3.5) arrives. After all, Joomla 3.0 is just a bridge to 3.5, and support will end 30 days after 3.1 sees the light of day. Keeping your sites on the bleeding edge of Joomla releases is just asking for trouble. We want you guys to be completely bug-free.

As you’re probably already (painfully) aware, most web hosting companies are way behind the times when it comes to PHP. Joomla 3.0 requires PHP 5.3.1, so there’s a pretty good chance your provider isn’t ready yet anyway.

and ideas, and we’ve implemented just about everything we could think of. We’ve made so many improvements to both our web site and our way of doing business that it’d be impossible to list every single change here, but let’s take a look at a few highlights.

Aside from the obvious visual style changes, we’ve improved the navigation and made it easier for our customers to find what they’re looking for. We added a one-of-a-kind filter and search system for our product groups to help you get to the template, theme or extension you need faster.

The category list and the product view now both include full screenshots so you can preview right away before you explore further. Digging even deeper, we’ve enhanced our product demos with a truly awesome filter system that allows you to test our stuff like never before. Once you’ve made your decision, our new on-page downloading system will make it super-easy to get what you need.

We’ve also improved and expanded our help sections, making sure our new and existing customers can learn all the tips and tricks for a great web presence that we’ve discovered over the years. We’ve also revamped our blog section to help keep you on top of the latest news about Joomla!, WordPress and general web development.

We’ve added insanely detailed template documentation for all of our templates, including step-by-step installation instructions and helpful guides for everything from module positions to database creation. We’ve got it all covered.

Finally, we decided to simplify our Joomla Templates Club membership options, making the incredible values we offer easier to understand and take advantage of. For our single-purchase customers, we decided to add lifetime support to every template and extension you buy. We’ve even extended that support to all of your active past purchases, because after all, we want all of our customers to be as excited about our templates and extensions as we are.

First off, we here at YouJoomla wanted to apologize for the slight delay in releasing this month’s Joomla template, the excellent YouVida.

It’s on the way, but we’d like to explain why it’s not here just yet.

Templates Club members who frequent the forums already know that we’ve been working hard to improve your experience and give you more of the good stuff you’ve come to expect from us. We’ve listened to your feedback, and are preparing to launch YouJoomla V4. If we may be so bold, we really knocked it out of the park this time! We’re just about done with our testing, and we’ll be going live very soon.

Aside from the obvious cosmetic changes you’ll see in the coming days, we’ve hired a crack team of Joomla! and WordPress enthusiasts to create easy-to-follow tutorials and brand new template documentation, as well as a revamped blog with helpful news, tips and tricks to keep you in the loop.

Our developers are working like mad to expand our Joomla! and WordPress offerings to make sure our customers always have the best of everything. That’s what YouJoomla V4 is all about.

In V4, we’ve added lifetime support to all of our single-purchase templates and extensions, WordPress Themes included. We’re even making that retroactive for your active past purchases. IE6 It is time to let go!

Our team has debated this since 2 years now. When all templates clubs simply decided to stop supporting IE6 we continued our course and implemented all possible patches

you might need for it. And there is plenty of them. But since recent Microsoft website ie6countdown.com came out where they bash their own product and urge everyone to update, it is time for us to simply play along. We gave our best shoot and it is time to move on.

It is time for us to advise our customers to stop supporting one of the worst browsers ever made. It is time for all our developer club members to advise their customers to click on a upgrade button.

All our templates have the IE6 upgrade notice especially YJSimpleGridbased ones. So please turn it on in your template settings and advise your visitors to upgrade. Understand that we will not cut all existing patches for IE6, but rather just not add new ones. All our templates have ifie6 options and ifie6 css files. You are more than welcome to still use them.

But from today's date we will not have any special hacks for IE6 and we will not add any new ones for all our future products.

We all went crazy when Joomla was going from 1.0 to 1.5 to 1.6. Everyone was upgrading without thinking twice about it. So why not push the IE6 upgrade? We all know what type of product it is , and we all know that there is so many better options like Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome. You still want to stick with IE , fine, get IE8 or IE9. It is compliant and has none of the issues like IE6.

or you can simply use the edit HTML in your template manager.
