Hi, I'm creating my own headbg pic but I would like to acheive the same colour intensity that you've managed with the 'resturant pic'. Can you roughly give a 1-2-3 procedure on this?
(I could probably figure it out, but it'll take some time. And I don't know if you used any particular filters for this...

Yes I'm quite familiar with PS)
I have everything in place: 2 pics and the beige gradient backdrop.

Solved this myself. Info here for others
Applic: Photoshop
1. Take your picture. Size of original headbg.jpg is 1600x177
2. Adjust it so you get a clear and crisp detail and contrast to your liking.
3. Simplify the colors to look like a washed photo from 1960s (if you like)
(Easiest way for the wash-out is to reduce Saturation to about -70 or -80)
4. Put two copies of the pic in two different layers
5. Choose Color Burn from the drop down in the layer window
6. Add a beige gradient layer below the both pictures (preferably use the one in the
original 'layout.psd' in the Social Bug package.
7. Tweak intensity, contrast and colours of the pic layers to your liking.
8. Save as headbg.jpg (mind the size. Medium compression usually OK.
9. Replace the original in /templates/socialbug/images/..
Hope you manage now!
