This may take awhile. I get Error: the XML response that was returned from the server is invalid.

I followed all the instructions. I got the error above first when I selected install sample data. The next time I got it was after naming the site, etc.

It looks like I need to add the db prefix for the existing installation as myblog_ and thereby use the existing database. (After I back up the database, of course).

Thanks. I'll take a look at it.

For now, there's no installing the Joomla portion. I get Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL.

I've used phpMyAdmin and MySQL Administrator, granted all privileges, but Joomla doesn't see the database.

I'll take a look at the video.

I've mucked about and have gotten the database to be recognized by Joomla.

I created a whole new database, and the other database is still intact, so I should be able to cut/paste between them, unless two joomla databases on on the same server is asking for trouble.

The part in the video about the XML error was most enlightening.

Now on to installing the rest of the stuff in the myblog package.

RESOLVED, unless you think otherwise.

Best regards and thank you for your help.

Once I've done this chore, I'm on to installing Drupal 5 and 6 for some friends. Hopefully, some day your company can develop templates for that CMS, as well.

The MyBlog MySQL database has a prefix of myblog_ and the old site has a database prefix of jos_.

I hope to be able to keep the other site running while I work on the other in the "background."
