What is Joomla Template?

and styles. Not to confuse template with demo , template does not come
with any demo content. Template is only predefined layout of possible
modules positions including the main website graphics like , header ,
logo or footer.
What is Joomla Extension?

extends your Joomla! installation. They come included in Joomla core or
can be provided from 3rd party developers like Youjoomla.com

your database or joomla components. It can be placed in any predefined
module positions previously defined by template developer.

displayed in main body position previously defined by template
developer. Joomla comes with few core joomla components like , banners
, contacts , news feeds , web links . You can also use 3rd party joomla
components that are developed by Joomla community members.
How to install Joomla?
Thursday, 12 November 20091. Download the latest stable Joomla package
2. Extract the zip package and transfer the content to your web server via FTP software
3. Now you need to set up the database for your Joomla installation.
4. Go to your local or web- server and find PHPMyadmin
5. Type in the database name you like for your MYSQL
6. Create a user for the database
7. In browser, type: www.yoursitename.com
8. There is your fresh installer
9. Choose your language click on Next
10. Make sure all your server settings are green click on Next
11. Joomla Licence click on Next
12. Fill in the MYSQL database information you just created, host name, username and password and database name click on Next
13. FTP Configuration Leave it as it is if you do not want to us FTP layer click on Next
14. Type in your site name, email address and admin password to use in backend
15. Important! Click on sample data click on Next
16. Follow the massage: Completely remove the installation directory from your server
17. Go to server and remove the installation file.
18. Go to yoursitename and you are all set with a demo Joomla site.
How to install Youjoomla Demo?
Thursday, 12 November 20091. Download the desired template demo from our download section .

How to install Joomla Template?
Thursday, 12 November 20091. Download your desired template. (Be sure to know where it's located on your computer!)
2. Log into your administrator backend.
3. Find Extensions/Install-Uninstall/Upload Package File click on Browse button
5. Now go to : Extensions/ Template Manager
6. You can see the 3 default Joomla templates as well as your new one.
7. Choose your template and click Default ( click on checkbox next to your template )
8. Now you see a star next to your chosen Template, and you are all set.
9. Note: Remember to refresh the site to see the changes.
How to install Joomla Extensions?
Thursday, 12 November 20091. Download the desired extension you need.
2. Log into admin area of your site.
3. Go to : Extensions/ Install-Uninstall/ and find Upload Package File click on Browse
4. Find your extension installation file. Click and hit Upload File & Install
How to change site name?
Thursday, 12 November 20091. Go to yoursitename/administrator.
2. Log into admin area of your site.
3. Go to Site/Global configuration
4. In tab name Site find text area name Site Name
5. Change the site name and hit apply
How to upgrade Joomla to latest version?
Friday, 03 February 2012- BACKUP YOUR INSTALLATION BEFORE ANY FILE CHANGES OR UPDATES
- If your Joomla version is 1.5 skip to step 3, 4 and 5,
go to Extensions -> Extensions Manager and click on tab link name Update.
In top right corner find icon name "Find Updates" and click on it.
If there is an update available it will get listed.
Select the update by clicking on checkbox next to it and in top right corner click on icon name "Update".
If update was successful there is no need for any further steps.
If update was not preformed properly continue to steps below. - Download the upgrade file for your installation. Example : if you version is 1.7.3, you would need 1.7.3 to 1.7.4 upgrade file ( if 1.7.3 is the current version)
- Extract the downloaded file
- Using your FTP client , transfer the extracted files to your server overriding the existing files.
- If your Joomla! version is 2.5 or higher, after the FTP files transfer go to Extensions -> Extensions Manager and click on tab link name Database.
Make sure that the Database schema version matches the current Joomla! Version.
If this is not the case locate the "Fix" icon in top right corner and click on it.
Your Joomla! admin will preform necessary database updates to match the current Joomla! Version.
- Check your installation.
