Another Demo Install question

I had a fresh Joomla 1.0.13 install in my root folder. When I installed my first Demo I simply uploaded the contents of the demo folder overwritng everything. I never ran an install. Upon uploading I simply went to my admin page and logged in. Everything worked.

At this point the only way I see to install a new demo template is to overwrite every thing.

Is this correct?

Can I copy the contents of the demo folder only uploading those files that DO NOT exist? Think I all ready know the answer to that but, that is the only way I see of doing it without loosing the first demo install...

no , the demo is mainly database change not the files update, this is why the demo must be ran as any joomla installation , not only transferring the files
