Slide up panel from bottom triggered by user scroll down the page

YouJoomla.com covers a remarkable range of different kinds of high quality templates, sliders, plugins, options, etc.

One idea that I think could be really helpful to users is to have a relatively quick and easy universal way to have a panel of about 150 - 200 pixels in height, slide up from the bottom of the page, overlaying the existing page content. This could be on some pages, or all pages.

I know the existing YouGrids system already includes an option that can provide a slide-up panel, but this requires a mouse click or touch to cause the slide-up and slide-down action. The solution I would love to see is one that gets triggered by the user scrolling down the page.

To see a great example of what I mean, please check out this excellent example:

Fullerton Financial Planning. Sun City, AZ. Where Retirement Dreams Begin!

The key thing is just to have the auto-slide-up panel appear, triggered by user scrolling down the page. The website owner can then insert whatever content they want. But an small image on the left side, a headline in the middle, some brief body text, and a sign-up form on the right side offers a neat logical flow.

Is a basic user-scroll-triggered slide-up something that YJSG 2 can cover? (in addition to making great coffee, solve world peace, and create the first space hyperdrive :-)

If not, perhaps an idea for a new module?

Thank you :-

Hello itips9273.

The bottom panel can be changed into the one that you need by changing the script a little bit or add additional script for that panel.
I will forward this to the head admin and we will have that in mind for the YJSG v2 and i hope it will be in, for example some switch between click effect and scroll effect.

Thank you for your proposal.

Hi arefund,

Superb! Excellent! You folks are amazing!

Of course, we can build that effect from scratch, but within YJSG, you folks will do that better, quicker, faster :-)

Initiating slide-up at scrolling down the page at only 100 pixels might be viewed as a bit keen, but having the option to perhaps choose from a range - something like 100 - 500 pixels - might offer a great choice for many business-oriented websites that seek to make an "offer of connection" with their visitors as soon as possible, yet in a way that seems part of the website (popups tend to be viewed as a kind of add-on, that of course annoy some visitors: maybe slide-up panels like this can be just as effective, yet be perceived by most users as as less invasive and acceptable.

No doubt, there are already some statistics on this topic, though it's sometimes hard to believe what we may discover. I guess a period of research and testing is the only real way to make sense of this approach.

Our goal on YJSG v2 is to be as simple as it could be, also to has as many functions that our customers can use very quick and easy. We will consider your suggestions and try to add that inside the new version.

Thank you.

Hi arefund,

I understand. It's a tricky balance to aim for isn't it: simple as possible, yet (somehow) providing such a wide range of easy to apply functionality.

So if user scroll-triggered slid-up panels are in YJSG 2.0, of course that's great. If not, it's no big deal: there are always options and ways around problems, and I know you have to draw the line somewhere or you'll have endless list of functionality requests.

You folks at YouJoomla.com have a knack of creating an ever growing archive made up of great and enticing solutions that - to be blunt - already save so much time for those of us that invest in them. So sometimes, I guess we can get a little lazy.

But anything that helps us all work smarter, not necessarily harder, is such a help today, which is why YJ is so highly recommended.
