[SOLVED] Registration redirect and reg info massage

Hi, when I click on the home page on Create Account I get transferred to the registration page. When I fill in all fields and click on and register myself, when I finish with the registration page and click on the register button I do not get redirected to another page. The same page keeps on my screen. But the registration takes place as weh I look in the admin section I find myself registered.

Where can I change this setting that after clicking on register the user gets redirected to for instance the start page?
Thanks.

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline template

Are you using a sef component?

anthonyh 03-29-2008 10:22 PM

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline template

Thanks for your reply.
Ive been playing with Joomla for 3 days now and bought the template 2 days ago. So I think the definition of Newbie is very well used on me. I dont know what sef means or is.

sariel 03-29-2008 10:41 PM

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline template

Thats ok, sef is a term given to urls that go from looking like this:

http://blah.com/index.php?option=com...&id=5&Itemid=6

to something more humanely readable like this:

http://blah.com/blog/my-artile-title.html
---

Reading back your initial post, I think I may have misread it. Im afraid its not possible to redirect registrations to another page using Joomlas default login module. This maybe possible through a third party login module or community builder

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline template

Im not quite sure what you mean. Usually it says thanks for registration and sends and email to the registrar account. Were they click on a link to finish the registration process. But if you look in the login form module: Extentions - Module Manager - Login Form. You can change the Login Redirection Page. Its normal for most registration pages to stay on the same page. Because a confirmation through email is needed before a registrar is actually registered.

This Module displays a username and password Login form. It also displays a link to retrieve a forgotten password. If User registration is enabled, (refer to the Global Configuration settings), then another link will be shown to invite Users to self-register.

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline template

Ok. thanks. Thats where things stop working. At the registration page, after filling in your new info and you click on the register button, nothing happens. You stay on the same registration page. No email is sent, no thank you page is displayed. You just stay on the same page.
But when I go to the admin section I see the user is registered.

Hope this helps a little more.
Thanks

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

Remember a user can be registered but the account not activated yet.

Have you checked your settings in Admin: Tool bar menu - Site - Global Configuration - System Settings - User Settings.

Allow User Registration No Yes
New User Registration Type
New User Account Activation No Yes
Front-end User Parameters

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

These are my settings:

Allow User Registration: Yes
New User Registration Type: Registered
New User Account Activation: Yes
Front-end User Parameters: Show

I tried again, after filling in the registration form and I click on register nothing happens. I dont get redirected to a thank you page but I stay on the same page. I dont receive an email either. Actually nothing happens.
Thanks.

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

Its an issue you having with Joomla. Youre going to have to go to the Joomla forum. http://forum.joomla.org/

See if using the default template makes any differents.You might also want to try installing a diffrent login module to see if it changes anything. You can download one in the download section of this site.

Heres a post about your problem.

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

In the post mentioned below they mention that if you are not using a default template you might need to do some programming, so maybe its a template problem:

If its not the default template, please add
<jdoc:include type=\message\ />to your template index.php.

http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.ph...t=registration

Ill go try to do this and let you know.

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

Ok. I placed the line <jdoc:include type=\message\ /> in the index.php of the template. It works indeed now. Only its not a pretty solution as there appears a notice on top of the page with the message:

Your account has been created and an activation link has been sent to the e-mail address you entered. Note that you must activate the account by clicking on the activation link when you get the e-mail before you can login.

But its on the same page. I was hoping for a redirection or something.

open

components/com_registratiron/registration.html.php

add
Code:

<jdoc:include type=\message\ />
after line 29
it should look like this
Code:

<form action=\index.php\ method=\post\>
<jdoc:include type=\message\ />

now the massage is not on the top of the page but in mainbody

I am trying to see if I can get redirect working ,
if you guys know direct link to login page for J1.5 I need it to test the hack

neo 03-30-2008 10:38 PM

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

this is better add it in template index.php just above

<jdoc:include type=\message\ />
<jdoc:include type=\component\ />

I will try to add this as default in future templates

as for redirect I need direct link to login page

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

Hi, thanks for the help.

I dont have the com_registration in my components directory so that part I couldnt do. There is some info I found at: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=431&t=265750

<div id=\maincolumn\>
<jdoc:include type=\message\ />
<div class=\nopad\>
<?php if($this->params->get(showComponent)) : ?>
<jdoc:include type=\component\ />
<?php endif; ?>
</div>
</div>

They say when you place this code it should be placed in the middle instead of the top of the page. But I dont know where to put this code in the template index.php

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

follow the instructions above for template index.php ,
yes I made mistake it is com_user in J1.5 but you dont need it just edit template index.php

neo 03-30-2008 11:04 PM

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

ok this is link to login page

index.php?option=com_user&view=login

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

Im sorry, Im a little lost.
This goes beyond my current newbie skills. I tried to copy paste the codes mentioned above but I am definitely placing them in the wrong place in the index.php.
My pages get constantly messed up. I placed
Code:

<jdoc:include type=\message\ />
back at the top of the page and it works again with the notice on the top of the page.

Yeah youre right. I paid US$ 25 for the template while I should have paid 4 dollars more and become a club member. I made a bad decision.

Re:Registration page redirection in Newsline templ

Im hoping you may be able to help me, I dont have one of the Templates you provide, but Im having trouble getting this fix
Code:

( $this->register(); $this->setRedirect(http://www.youjoomla.com);)
to work on my site. I had it working at one point, and I cant get it to work properly again. Ive re-done the \fix\ (because I believe it was overwritten when I upgraded) but instead of the page redirecting to the page Ive told it to, All I get is still the ugly red \helper\ bar across the top of my page that says it was a succesful registration & they still need to activate the account...

Is there something Im missing? Do I need to somehow deactivate the \helper\ for the registration. This isnt really a problem, its mainly an annoyance, but Id appreciate any help you may be able to provide me.
