Default Embedded .swf not shoing in Chrome

Hi,

In a Yougrids template, I have an embedded .swf that simply refuses to show up on the front page in Chrome.

It works fine in FF, Opera and in IE.

Here's the weird part: It also works fine in CHROME from a main navigation link when I just embed it in a section's description...if that makes sense.

The same also applies for Safari -- it works as a link but not on the front page.

I'm using the exact same embed code in both instances.

I'm using a third party application that generates the code on their site:

Code:
<div><object style="width:975px;height:600px" ><param name="movie" value="http://static.issuu.com/webembed/viewers/style1/v1/IssuuViewer.swf?mode=embed&layout=http%3A%2F%2Fskin.issuu.com%2Fv%2Flighticons%2Flayout.xml&showFlipBtn=true&documentId=110108222432-7737d83a19a841449bc1b9a430e92ccf&docName=info_northeast_s_the_guide_to_northeast_michigan&username=infonortheast&loadingInfoText=Info%20Northeast's%20The%20Guide%20to%20Northeast%20Michigan&et=1294526342115&er=78" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"/><param name="menu" value="false"/><embed src="http://static.issuu.com/webembed/viewers/style1/v1/IssuuViewer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" menu="false" style="width:975px;height:600px" flashvars="mode=embed&layout=http%3A%2F%2Fskin.issuu.com%2Fv%2Flighticons%2Flayout.xml&showFlipBtn=true&documentId=110108222432-7737d83a19a841449bc1b9a430e92ccf&docName=info_northeast_s_the_guide_to_northeast_michigan&username=infonortheast&loadingInfoText=Info%20Northeast's%20The%20Guide%20to%20Northeast%20Michigan&et=1294526342115&er=78" /></object><div style="width:975px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://issuu.com/infonortheast/docs/info_northeast_s_the_guide_to_northeast_michigan?mode=embed&layout=http%3A%2F%2Fskin.issuu.com%2Fv%2Flighticons%2Flayout.xml&showFlipBtn=true" target="_blank">Open publication</a> - Free <a href="http://issuu.com" target="_blank">publishing</a></div></div>
I tried to wrap an extra div around the embed code, and I also gave the anonymous div (like it is now) a class and an ID. Nothing.

Any help appreciated at this point. It doesn't make any sense. I'm stumped.

Thanks

My question would be, how is this related to YJSG? If you could show us a link to the problem with YJSG giving the problem and a link to for example beez template not showing the problem, then maybe there would be some way to help with this.

Well it might not be. Hence the question being posted in Joomla help and not a template help. I just mentioned the name of the template and in no way did I imply that it was a template problem.

As you can probably see my thread title clearly states "Embedded .swf not shoing in Chrome." And not FLASH NOT WORKING IN YOUGRIDS.

Thanks for your help

I wasn't jumping on you jules, merely suggesting to troubleshoot it by comparing templates. Can't imagine it being solely a YJSG problem.

Fair enough. Let me set some up on a couple of separate domains and I'll post the links.

Okidoki, but before going through all that trouble check it with different templates for yourself.

Figured out that it's not a template issue. It's the same story in Beez.

When I install YouGrids on a different domain, under the same conditions, the .swf works fine in all browsers.

So it has to be something that went wrong with this set up.

If you'd let me I could PM you the login for the site I'm working on.

Well you should really join the club for that, we can't go any further than trying to provide some forum help to free members. Hope you can sympathize with that because otherwise there would be no end to free support and no extra support we could offer our club members.

But anyways, good to know it's not a template issue, thanks for reporting back.

Thanks Maggoo. Perhaps you can also sympathize then that I've parted with hundreds of dollars for support and 90% of the time I'm still left to figure it out by myself.

Thanks for your help though. You've pointed me in the right direction.

Of course i can symphatize with that, but don't blame us for others failing support

Anyways, for any provider it's always tricky to support some unknown 3rd party extension, there is just no way around that. But we narrowed it down and in your case i would slowly begin to consider another extension instead of this one giving you troubles.
