Question Params ini Keeps changing back: Youmovies params.ini is unwritable!

Issues with Parameters: *** UPDATED! June 11, 2009 ***

Note! Solution contained below in replies. Clear browser cache and quit browser, (restart if necessary and the changes will appear as expected!)

The parameter file /templates/youmovies/params.ini is unwritable!

I am trying to set the template color of the youmovies template to blue and it won't switch even though it says it is changed:

Parameters The parameter file /templates/youmovies/params.ini is writable!

Then when I check again it says it is unwritable!

Parameters The parameter file /templates/youmovies/params.ini is unwritable!

Q: What's up with the YouJoomla template as it appears to be the only template this happens to in my site?

I can't seem to get the parameters to change, so how can I make it change so I can use the template?

I think I may have found one answer: UPDATED! The color is still not changing

Default Rearams.ini is unwritable..
Unwritable is fine and that is how is should be , what you need to do once you change color is close browser and open again because your session is still open for previous color

I am getting a little frustrated with this params ini stuff. I am trying to set a simple color in the parameters of the Youmovies template the params ini set to writable and have done all the stuff like close out the browser etc, and then open things back up, but I still can't get the color to change.

I would very much like to sue this template but can't change the settings, so it is getting a little frustrating. There has to be a solution????

Have you tried clearing your cache?

Talking Re: have you cleared your cache, YES!

Thank you,

I have cleared my cache on FF browser, but I had to quit FF completely, and restart my PC and then when I came back into the FF browser, I found that the color and the template changes were updated. I thought I just had to clear the cache and log back into my site to see the updated changes, but this was not to be until I restarted. Not sure why it requires a complete restart?

I am not sure if this is an artifact of the latest Joomla 1.5.10 version or if it is specific to YouJoomla templates? But at least the template changes have taken effect and the color is the way I want it.

I am a big fan of YouJoomla templates, and other than a few minor glitches which cause some frustration - all in all the YouJoomla Templates and extensions are the slickest, most robust available for Joomla!

I can live with this now that I know the process. My company that I founded is working ona new site that will provide numerous screencasts and video tutorials for Joomla site building. I found that there is no real (consistently updated News Site on Joomla site building) for novices.

I create screencast video tutorials for all my clients (mainly Joomla, but also email marketing tools such as Constant Contact and VerticalResponse), and I am now going to make these screencasts available to others to assist them with their Joomla site development. The template clubs that I recommend are:

YouJoomla, Shape5.com and RocketTheme.com

I will pst more information (including the main site link) when the new site is available and I feel it can assist other users of YouJoomla and Joomla!

the params.ini changes to unwritable after saving and that is joomla default which is not controlled by any template, to this test if you have 2 browsers example , ff and IE , go in admin in FF set default color and than open template in IE, advise if the issue still exists, thnx for support

It's normal for the "unwriteable" to be there if your server is running PHP as a CGI module (that's a good thing for security). Joomla will temporarily make the template writeable when you save/apply changes and then make it unwriteable when you're done.
